This book aims to provide beginners with an introduction to the programming of Mac OS X Apps using Cocoa, and XCode, the free developer tools provided by Apple, Inc. Examples of Mac apps are: iTunes, Safari, Mail, iCal, Address Book, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, etc. Using Objective-C, Cocoa and XCode as taught in this wikibook will start your education in how to develop Mac apps.
NSTimer is not correct on OS X(OS X 10.9) Tag: objective-c,osx,cocoa. I use the code below to trigger and execute some function every 1 second NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:1 target:self selector:nil but I found that the timer is not correct. It is always 2 times faster than normal. This repository contains the solutions and errata for Cocoa Programming for OS X - The Big Nerd Ranch Guide, 5th Edition, by Aaron Hillegass, Adam Preble, and Nate Chandler. Solutions for exercises can be found in the folder corresponding to that chapter.
Covering the bulk of what you need to know to develop full-featured applications for OS X, this edition is updated for OS X Yosemite (10.10), Xcode 6, and Swift. Written in an engaging tutorial style and class-tested for clarity and accuracy, it is an invaluable resource for any Mac programmer. The authors introduce the two most commonly used Mac developer tools: Xcode and Instruments. Jun 27, 2015 I found that the book was not that helpful to me, whereas Matt Neuberg's two-book series covering both fundamentals and why they were implemented solved my ever-present questioning mind.
Many of the skills that you learn in this wikibook can be used to build apps for iOS but there are some differences between Mac OS X apps and iOS apps. This book focuses on Mac OS X apps.

Apple has a Mac App Store where it can sell your Mac apps for you and they will pay you 70% of the proceeds. The Mac App Store is available for users of Mac OS X, 10.6 and later by choosing from the Apple menu 'App Store..'. https://laneintensive239.weebly.com/download-mac-os-x-106-for-virtualbox.html.
Adobe flash player for mac os x 10.10.3. In general, this text is written to be followed in order from start to finish except that if you have experience in C, C++, Java or Python, you are encouraged to look at the relevant section of the Appendix to orient you to developing for Mac OS X and Cocoa.
As each topic develops, it builds on the code written previously to add complexity and functionality, so you are advised to read this wikibook from start to finish in the order that it was written.

<>Covering the bulk of what you need to know to develop full-featured applications for OS X, this edition is updated for OS X Yosemite (10.10), Xcode 6, and Swift. Written in an engaging tutorial style and class-tested for clarity and accuracy, it is an invaluable resource for any Mac programmer. The authors introduce the two most commonly used Mac developer tools: Xcode and Instruments. They also cover the Swift language, basic application architecture, and the major design patterns of Cocoa. Examples are illustrated with exemplary code, written in the idioms of the Cocoa community, to show you how Mac programs should be written.
After reading this book, you will know enough to understand and utilize Apple’s online documentation for your own unique needs. And you will know enough to write your own stylish code.
This edition was written for Xcode 6.3 and Swift 1.2. At WWDC 2015, Apple announced Xcode 7 and Swift 2, both of which introduce significant updates that (along with some changes to Cocoa for OS X 10.11) affect some of the exercises in this book. We have prepared a companion guide listing the changes needed to use Xcode 7 to work through the exercises in the book; it is available at https://github.com/bignerdranch/cocoa-programming-for-osx-5e/blob/master/Swift2.md.
